Goals for all Design

……////

Interactive

Feedback is crucial. Playful, positive, and responsive are the goals when making a design. Simply, a good design encourages engagement.

Collaborative

Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.

– Helen Keller

Clarity can be tough. Cutting through the noise is tiring w/ commotion or palaver . A story that speaks to many nations, races, and ages: best told by writers & empathizers parsing data to get to the core is ideal.

Accessible

A bar that needs to be cleared on all designs.

Certificate Program

I decided to go back to school. I probed three or more programs-- this one offered the best balance of subject-matter, duration, and workload. I was able to complete the 6 month program and feel prepared for a career in UX.

Property Manager

You learn more from failure than success.
I was brought on for a trial period, however, the Board opted to hire someone with a fuller background in the industry. I chose to stay involved and continue developing the website. I interviewed stakeholders and incorporated the agreed upon changes, but I lacked the right skillset to convince them of a major overhaul.

Manager

I further studied customer behavior. At the shop, I helped with media presence and partnered with local online food delivery system. My ideas about providing an intuitive user experience were solidified when sales jumped 13 percent over the following month.

Sous chef

During my 5 month stint in the wilderness, I became interested in continuing to work in professional kitchens (what else does a body in demand of 4k calories a day think about?). What does the community need? This was the question we asked to better serve the neighborhood. It was an important lesson in listening to the customer.

After an internship turned job failed to materialize (the arm of the company folded), I opted to pursue something grand. A narrow thread of wilderness connects Maine to Georgia. The support I received was a fabric woven with understanding and kindness. This helped form my philosophy about what systems are successful-- generous and accessible.

BA: Integrative Arts

Fundamentals of visual design coupled with pursuing curiosities including: new media, product design, clay/sculpture, and engineering. If UX Design were taught then, I would have swiftly entered the field. At the time, there was no 'art meets data science' degree.
